Australian Retail Sales rose for the tenth consecutive month

Australian Retail Sales seasonally adjusted estimate rose 0.3% in March 2015. Analysts were anticipating 0.4% incline. This follows a rise of 0.7% in February 2015 and a rise of 0.5% in January 2015 and is tenth consecutive month of increase. In volume terms, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.7% in the March quarter 2015.

Eurozone Retail Sales declined more than expected

In February 2015 compared with January 2015, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade fell by 0.2% in the euro area. Analysts were forecasting 0.1% decline. In February 2015 compared with February 20144 the retail sales index increased by 3.0% in the euro area.

Retail Sales in Australia rose 0.7% in February 2015, beating market forecasts on 0.4% growth. This follows a rise of 0.5% in January 2015 and a rise of 0.1% in December 2014. The following industries rose in trend terms in February 2015: Household goods retailing (0.6%), Food retailing (0.2%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.5%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (0.6%), Other retailing (0.1%) and Department stores (0.1%).

Australian Retail Sales rose 0.4% in January 2015. This was in line with market predictions. It follows a rise of 0.2% in December 2014 and a relatively unchanged (0.0%) November 2014. The following industries rose in trend terms in January 2015: Household goods retailing (0.3%), Food retailing (0.1%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (0.7%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.3%) and Department stores (0.5%). Other retailing (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in January 2015.
