UK unemployment rate at the lowest level since 2008

The number of people claiming unemployment benefit in UK in April fell by 12,600, the smallest decline since March 2013, compared with a forecast from economists for a fall of 20,000. However, total average weekly earnings in the three months to March, including bonuses, rose 1.9% compared with the same period a year earlier, from 1.7% in February, and above predictions on incline by 1.8%. Australian employment decreased by 2,900

Australian employment decreased 2,900 to 11,724,600, missing expectations on an increase by 3,500. Full-time employment decreased 21,900 to 8,115,900 and part-time employment increased 19,000 to 3,608,600. Unemployment increased 7,000 to 769,500. The number of unemployed persons looking for full-time work decreased 2,700 to 541,500 and the number of unemployed persons only looking for part-time work increased 9,800 to 228,000.  Read more...

UK Unemployment Rate fell to 5.6%

According to the latest release number of unemployed in Great Britain was down 20,700 from February 2015 and down 369,400 from a year earlier, but below market predictions on decrease by 29,100. It was also 6,000 lower than the pre-downturn trough of 778,400 for February 2008.  Read more...

Australian employment up in March

Australian employment increased by 37,700 to 11,720,300. Analysts were anticipating smaller increase by 14,900. Full-time employment increased 31,500 to8,131,400 and part-time employment increased 6,100 to 3,588,900.Unemployment decreased 1,500 to 764,500. The number of unemployed persons looking for full-time work increased 700 to 546,800 and the number of unemployed persons only looking for part-time work decreased 2,200 to 217,700.  Read more...
