Number of unemployed in Spain has dropped in March by 60,214 people and places the total at 4,451,939 people. Analysts were predicting smaller decline by 18,300. This is the largest decline in unemployment in this month since 2002. In the last six years, registered unemployment in March had increased on average by over 35,000 people.
In seasonally adjusted terms, unemployment decreased by 63,368 people, the best of all historical series in any month. Except July 2014, the number of unemployed in seasonally adjusted terms has been declining every month since May 2013, accumulating 23 months of fall. In the last 12 months, registered unemployment has decreased by 343,927 people, the largest annual decline in unemployment throughout the time series, with annual reduction rate standing at 7.17%.
