Australian Retail Sales up by 0.7%

Retail Sales in Australia rose 0.7% in June 2015. This follows a rise of 0.4% in May 2015 and a relatively unchanged April 2015 (0.0%). Analysts were anticipating smaller increase by 0.5%. The following industries rose in trend terms in June 2015: Household goods retailing (0.8%), Food retailing (0.2%), Other retailing (0.4%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.3%) and Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (0.1%). Department stores (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in June 2015.

UK's Trade Balance deficit at £8.0 billion

The UK’s deficit on trade in goods and services was estimated to have been £0.4 billion in May 2015, compared with £1.8 billion in April 2015. This reflects a deficit of £8.0 billion on goods, partially offset by an estimated surplus of £7.6 billion on services. Analysts were anticipating deficit on goods od £9.6 billion. This deficit is the smallest since June 2013 and the narrowing is a result of imports decreasing by £1.4 billion to £43.4 billion, as exports were unchanged at £43.0 billion. Read more...

US Trade Balance deficit widened in May

US goods and services deficit was $41.9 billion in May, up $1.2 billion from $40.7 billion in April, revised, but below forecasts on deficit of $42.9 billion. Australian Trade Balance deficit narrowed in May

In seasonally adjusted terms, the Australian balance on goods and services was a deficit of $2.75 billion in May 2015, a decrease of $1.38 billion (33%) on the deficit in April 2015. Analysts were anticipating larger decrease to $2.21 billion. Goods and services credits rose $206m (1%) to $25,528m. Non-rural goods rose $313m (2%) and rural goods rose $164m (4%).
