Unemployment Claims down to 245,000

In the week ending June 3, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 245,000, a decrease of 10,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 7,000 from 248,000 to 255,000. The 4-week moving average was 242,000, an increase of 2,250 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 1,750 from 238,000 to 239,750.

ADP Employment increased by 253,000 jobs

Private sector employment increased by 253,000 jobs from April to May according to the May ADP National Employment Report. “May proved to be a very strong month for job growth,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute. “Professional and business services had the strongest monthly increase since 2014. This may be an indicator of broader strength in the workforce since these services are relied on by many industries.”

Unemployment Claims increased to 234,000

U.S. jobless-benefit claims are hovering near levels that continue to reflect a strong labor market, with figures little changed last week, Labor Department data showed Thursday. Initial benefit filings increased 1k to 234k (forecast was 238k). Continuing claims rose 24k to 1.923m in week ended May 13 (data reported with one-week lag). Four-week average of initial claims, a less-volatile measure than the weekly figure, decreased to 235,250 from 241,000 in the prior week.

Unemployment Claims declined to 232,000

In the week ending May 13, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 232,000, a decrease of 4,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 236,000. The 4-week moving average was 240,750, a decrease of 2,750 from the previous week's unrevised average of 243,500. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.4 percent for the week ending May 6, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate.
