U.K. Retail Sales down by 0.6%

Year-on-year estimates in the quantity bought in the retail industry show growth for the 30th consecutive month in October 2015, increasing by 3.8% compared with October 2014. The underlying pattern in the data, as suggested by the 3 month on 3 month movement in the quantity bought, showed growth for the 23rd consecutive month, increasing by 0.9%.  Read more...

U.S Retail Sales increased less than expected

Sales at U.S. retailers rose less than forecast in October as consumers pocketed the money saved after fueling up their cars. Purchases increased 0.1% after being little changed in September, Commerce Department figures showed Friday in Washington. The median forecast of 84 economists called for a 0.3% gain. Receipts at service stations dropped for a fourth consecutive month as gasoline prices declined. Seven of 13 major retail categories showed gains last month, led by building-material stores, restaurants and non-store merchants, which include Internet sales, according to the report from the Commerce Department.  Read more...

Australian Retail Sales increased by 0.4%

Australian retail turnover rose 0.4% in September 2015 following a rise of 0.4% in August 2015, seasonally adjusted. Compared to September 2014 the trend estimate rose 3.7%. In seasonally adjusted terms there were rises in household goods retailing, cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services, food retailing, other retailing and clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing. Sterling traded in a tighter range in a quiet Friday's trade

There were no major data releases from the UK today, with British pound being traded in a tighter range. Sterling was pushed lower in the course of yesterday's session, mostly due to dovish ECB stanzas indicating that more stimulus is coming in future. However, we believe that this is only of a short-term basis, since recent UK data was positive, especially yesterday's Retail Sales figures that showed 1.9% increase, beating forecasts on 0.3% incline.
