UK CPI unchanged in July

The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs 12-month inflation rate was 2.6% in July 2017, unchanged from June 2017. CPIH was re-designated as a National Statistic on 31 July 2017. The price of motor fuel continued to fall and provided the largest downward contribution to change in the rate between June 2017 and July 2017. This was offset by smaller upward contributions from a range of goods and services, including clothing, household goods, gas and electricity, and food and non-alcoholic beverages. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month rate was 2.6% in July 2017, unchanged from June 2017.

US PPI down by 0.1%

The Producer Price Index for final demand declined 0.1 percent in July, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Final demand prices inched up 0.1 percent in June and were unchanged in May. On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index increased 1.9 percent for the 12 months ended in July.

China’s Consumer Price Index Weakens to 1.4% in July

Chinese consumer inflation weakened slightly in July, while producer prices expanded at a steady pace, government data revealed Wednesday. The July consumer price index (CPI) advanced 1.4% from a year earlier, slightly below the previous month’s gain of 1.5%, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a report. Analysts in a median estimate called for a 1.5% increase.

Australian PPI increased by 0.5%

Australian PPI rose 0.5% in the June quarter 2017. The raise mainly due to rises in the prices received for Heavy and civil engineering construction (+0.9%), Building construction (+0.8%) and Other agriculture (+7.4%). This was partly offset by falls in the prices received for Petroleum refining and petroleum fuel manufacturing (-4.8%), Accommodation (-2.4%) and Commercial fishing (-7.6%). PPI rose 1.7% through the year to the June quarter 2017.
