UK CPI increased by 0.3%

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 0.3% in the year to May 2016, unchanged from April. This continues the position seen since the beginning of the year of a rate which is a little above zero. With the exception of March, when the rate was influenced by the timing of Easter, headline inflation has been 0.3% for all months of 2016.

Eurozone CPI rose to -0.1% in May

Euro area annual inflation is expected to be -0.1% in May 2016, up from -0.2% in April, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. This was in line with market forecasts.

Eurozone inflation at -0.2% in April

Euro area annual inflation was -0.2% in April 2016, down from 0.0% in March. In April 2015 the rate was 0.0%. This was in line with prelim reading. European Union annual inflation was also -0.2% in April 2016, down from 0.0% in March. A year earlier the rate was 0.0%.

US CPI up by 0.4%

US CPI increased 0.4% in April on a seasonally adjusted basis, beating forecasts on 0.3% incline. Over the last 12 months, the all items index rose 1.1% before seasonal adjustment. The seasonally adjusted all items increase was broad-based, with the indexes for food, energy, and all items less food and energy all rising in April. The food index rose 0.2% after declining in March, with the food at home index increasing slightly. The index for energy increased 3.4%, with the gasoline index rising 8.1%, and the indexes for fuel oil and natural gas also advancing. Read more...
