U.S. CPI unchanged in June

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) was unchanged in June on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index rose 1.6 percent. The energy index declined again in June, falling 1.6 percent; this offset an increase in the index for all items less food and energy. All the major energy component indexes declined, with the gasoline index falling 2.8 percent. The food index was unchanged in June, with the index for food at home declining slightly as five of the six major grocery store food group indexes decreased.

Australian Retail Sales 0.6%

Australian retail turnover rose 0.6 per cent in May 2017, seasonally adjusted, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Retail Trade figures. This follows a rise of 1.0 per cent in April 2017.

UK Retail Sales down by 1.2%

In May 2017, the quantity bought in the retail industry was estimated to have increased by 0.9% compared with May 2016; the annual growth rate was last lower in April 2013.

Eurozone Retail Sales up by 0.1%

In April 2017 compared with March 2017, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade rose by 0.1% in the euro area (EA19) and by 0.5% in the EU28, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In March the retail trade volume increased by 0.2% in the euro area, while it fell by 0.1% in the EU28. In April 2017 compared with April 2016, the calendar adjusted retail sales index increased by 2.5% in the euro area and by 3.0% in the EU28.
