Yesterday, from Australia, New Motor Vehicle Sales figures were released. The December 2015 trend estimate fornew motor vehicle sales (97 683) has decreased by 0.1% when compared with November 2015. In seasonally adjusted terms sales decreased by 0.5%. When comparing national trend estimates for December 2015 with November 2015, sales of Passenger and Sports utility vehicles decreased by 0.4% and 0.1% respectively. Over the same period sales for Other vehicles increased by 0.8%.
Five of the eight states and territories experienced a decrease in new motor vehicle sales when comparing December 2015 with November 2015. New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory all recorded a percentage decrease of 0.2%, while the Australian Capital Territory recorded a decrease of 1.5%. Over the same period, South Australia recorded an increase of 1.3%.
Though there will be no data releases from Australia, tomorrow, from China, GDP and Industrial Production figures are scheduled for a release. Analysts are anticipating 6.9% growth in Q4 GDP, while Industrial Production is anticipated to rise by 6.0%, down from last month's 6.2% increase. There will be no data releases in the US part of the session.
