There was no movement in sales for Passenger vehicles. The largest upward movement across all states and territories, on a trend basis, was in the Northern Territory (1.3%). The only downward movement across all states and territories, on a trend basis, was in the Australian Capital Territory (-0.7%), continuing a downward trend that began in January 2017.
New Motor Vehicle Sales increased by 2.9%
Seasonally adjusted Australian New Motor Vehicle Sales increased by 2.9% in May 2017. The May 2017 trend estimate (98,534) increased by 0.6% when compared with April 2017. When comparing national trend estimates for May 2017 with April 2017, sales for Sports utility vehicles and Other vehicles increased by 0.7% and 1.5% respectively.
