Public sector net borrowing (excluding public sector banks) decreased by £13.6 billion to £49.3 billion in the current financial year-to-date (April 2016 to January 2017), compared with the same period in the previous financial year; this is the lowest year-to-date borrowing since the financial year-to-date ending January 2008.
U.K. Public Sector Net Borrowing -9.82B vs. -14.00B forecast
U.K. public sector borrowing fell less-than-expected in the last quarter, official data showed on Tuesday. In a report, National Statistics Office said that U.K. Public Sector Net Borrowing fell to a seasonally adjusted -9.82B, from 4.24B in the preceding quarter whose figure was revised down from 6.42B. Analysts had expected U.K. Public Sector Net Borrowing to fall to -14.00B in the last quarter.
