At the end of December, the number of unemployed in Spain fell by 64,405 persons compared with the previous month, missing expectations on decline by 72,000, however this is a figure which is the second largest decline in December. In seasonally adjusted terms, the registered unemployment also fell by 5,404, fifth consecutive decline.
By economic sector, unemployment among workers who had previously worked in the services fell by 65,275 people (2.23% less) and by 2,639 in agriculture (1.23% less), while it increased in construction by 12,689 (2.39%) and industry by 2,435 (0.54% increase). Finally, the group without previous employment was reduced by 11,615 people (-2.99%).
After the data euro added few points and is currently being traded around 1.1950 area. Later today, German CPI figures are scheduled for a release.
