Total lending to individuals increased by £2.5 billion in February, compared to the average monthly increase of £2.6 billion over the previous six months. This was in line with market forecasts. The three-month annualised and twelve-month growth rates were 1.9% and 2.3% respectively.
Lending secured on dwellings increased by £1.7 billion in February, in line with the average monthly increase over the previous six months. The number of loan approvals for house purchase was 61,760 in February, compared to the average of 60,750 over the previous six months. This was also in line with market predictions.
